Zlatibor je druga najpoznatija planina u Srbiji, pogodna za zimski, ali i letnji turizam. Zlatibor se nalazi se u jugozapadnom delu Srbije, na nadmorskoj visini od 700 do 1500 m, 240 km od Beograda, u blizini Užica i Čajetine. Najviši planinski vrhovi su Tornik (1496 m) i Čigota (1422 m).

Zahvaljujući specifičnoj klimi i karakterističnim vazdušnim strujanjima, kao i čistoj prirodi, Zlatibor se razvio u čuveni letnji i zimski turistički centar, sa najdužom turističkom tradicijom među planinama u Srbiji. Za zvanični početak turizma na Zlatiboru smatra se dolazak kralja Aleksandra Obrenovića na Kulaševac 1893. godine, kada je kraj i dobio ime – „Kraljeve vode.“ Klima Zlatibora je pogodna za održavanje zdravlja i kondicije zdravih ljudi, kao i za lečenje različitih plućnih bolesti, anemije, poremećaja srca i krvnih sudova, a naročito poremećaja štitaste žlezde, pa je i proglašen za klimatsko lečilište.

Na Zlatiboru postoje dva veštačka jezera:  jezero u Ribnici, na reci Crni Rzav, i u samom centru turističkog naselja Zlatibor nalazi jedno manje jezero, napravljeno za turističke potrebe.  Zlatibor je poznat kao skijaški centar. Sportski centar „Tornik“ nalazi se na nadmorskoj visini od 1110 do 1490 m, 9 km od centra Zlatibora. Četiri staze (Čigota, Tornik, Ribnica, Zmajevac), pogodne su za takmičenja u slalomu, veleslalomu i superveleslalomu. U centralnom delu Zlatibora nalaze se uređene staze za smučarsko trčanje i biatlon, koje se zbog svoje preglednosti i konfiguracije terena, ubrajaju među najlepše u Evropi.

Tokom cele godine Zlatibor je mesto za pripreme vrhunskih sportista, ali i za košarkaške kampove, škole paraglajdinga, tenisa, skijanja i plivanja. Zlatibor je jedan od naših najvećih centara kongresnog turizma. Veliki broj kongresa seminara i simpozijuma održava se ovde tokom cele godine.

Najzastupljeniji je rekreativni turizam, zbog brojnosti pešačkih staza. Značajan je Muzej narodnog graditeljstva pod otvorenim nebom „Staro selo,“ u Sirogojnu, koji prikazuje tipičnu zlatiborsku okućnicu iz 19. veka.

Zlatibor is the second most famous mountain in Serbia, suitable for winter and summer tourism. It is located in southwestern Serbia, at a height of between 700 and 1500 m above sea-level, near the towns of Užice and Čajetina and is 240 km from Belgrade. The highest peaks are Tornik (1496 m) and Čigota (1422 m).

Due to the specific climate and air currents, which can only be found here, forest areas of firs, pines and spruces and spacious meadows populated with beautiful plants, rivers and streams, the unpolluted air, healthy and clean water, a large number of annual sunny days, the hospitality of the people and the beautiful ski slopes, Zlatibor has become a renowned summer and winter tourist place with the longest tourist tradition of any of Serbia’s mountains. King Aleksandar Obrenović’s 1893 arrival in the town of Kulaševac, which was then renamed Kraljeve Vode (King’s Waters), is considered to be the official beginning of the tourism industry in Zlatibor.

Zlatibor’s climate is ideal for people wanting to stay healthy and fit, and also for to the treatment of various respiratory diseases, anemia, minor heart and blood vessel disorders and, in particular, thyroid disorders, is the reason for the mountain to be proclaimed as a climatic health resort.

There are two artificial lakes in Zlatibor, the one located on the Crni Rzav river in Ribnica and the other one, which was created especially for use by tourists, in the very centre of the Zlatibor tourist village. Surrounded by pleasant paths and benches, guests can bathe and sunbathe during summer and skate on the frozen surface of the lake during winter.

Zlatibor is well-known as a ski centre. Tornik Sports Centre is located between 1110 m and 1490 m above sea-level, 9 km from the centre of Zlatibor. The four ski slopes (Čigota, Tornik, Ribnica and Zmajevac) are suitable for slalom, giant slalom and super giant slalom skiing. In the central part of Zlatibor there are slopes for cross-country and biathlon skiing, which are considered to be among the most beautiful in Europe.

Throughout the year, top athletes come for training on Zlatibor and there are also basketball camps and instruction in paragliding, tennis, skiing and swimming. Zlatibor is one of the largest conference tourism centers in the country, with a large number of conferences and seminars being held here all year round.

The most popular are leisure activities, especially walking tours on many walking paths on the mountain. It is also very important to mention the open-air museum of folk architecture Staro Selo (Old Village) ethnic village in Sirogojno that displays typical 19th-century Zlatibor farmsteads.
